Drs Pallavi Kasaraneni and Anna Machin will be leaving us at the beginning of December and we will be welcoming Drs Justin Croft and Lisa Leung at that time.
Dr Andy Ferguson will be returning from his sabbatical leave in January 2010 and we would like to take this opportunity of thanking Dr Jo Beattie for all her hard work in his absence.
One of our loyal band of receptionists, Pat, left us this month (November) after over 20 years service and we wish her well in well-earned retirement. We welcome Julie France to our reception team.
Looking ahead, we hope that you do not need the surgery over the festive period but if you do a reminder that we will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Bank Holiday Monday (December 28th) and New Year’s Day
We will remain open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve until 2 pm.
Phone calls to the surgery will be transferred to the GP Out of Hours Collaborative at times when the surgery is closed.
Our extended hours service will continue to operate over the holiday period, in particular early morning on Wednesday 23rd December and Tuesday 29th December and early evening on Tuesday 22nd December and Wednesday 30th December. There will be a Saturday morning service on 19th December.
Full details of extended hours services are displayed in the surgery and on our website www.firthparksurgery.co.uk. Thanks for all the positive feedback so far on our extended hours service.
If you have internet access have a look at our website which we try to keep up to date with information for our patients.
Current features include:
- Swine flu immunisation programme
- Extended house services
- How the surgery can help you get the appointment you need
- How you can get advice over the phone
PATIENT DEMANT AUDIT
We are currently undertaking another audit on the number of requests received each day for an appointment to see a doctor. The results of the survey will help us to ensure that, generally, apart from exceptional circumstances, we are able to offer good access to GP appointments for all our patients. As noted in our autumn newsletter we have recruited Dr. Nazma Siddiq to offer five surgeries per week.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR THE SWINE FLU VACCINATION?
You will be aware from extensive media coverage about swine flue that the NHS has prioritised certain ‘clinical at risk’ groups for vaccination.
Please ask at reception if you are unsure if you are included in the priority groups.
AND FINALLY … SEASON’S GREETINGS!
(AND THANKS FOR THE PRESENTS!!)
Many thanks to all those of you who remember us at this time of year. The biscuits and chocolates have already started arriving and are much appreciated. (we’ll be dieting in the New Year!)
