If you are struggling with your Mental Health the likely outcome of the discussion with your GP is that they will recommend that you contact the IAPT service. Whilst you may still wish to speak to the GP it will be helpful in speeding access to the right care if you make this referral yourself before you have the discussion with the GP.
What is IAPT?
Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service is part of Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. It is an NHS adult service offering a range of free psychological therapies to over 12,000 people each year who live in Sheffield.
Who is it for?
It is a service for people aged 16 and above, who are registered with a GP in Sheffield. It provides people, who commonly experience problems such as stress, anxiety and depression with access to service at the right time when they need it most. It provides the right talking treatments with the right staff at the highest quality and aims to empower people to make informed choices and changes to improve well-being and live fulfilled lives
