SEASONAL FLU VACCINATIONS
4 October 2024
Seasonal Flu Vaccination
Childrens flu
The flu vaccine for children can be given in two ways, which are both effective and safe. It's given as a nasal spray, which may be slightly more effective for children and young people (Between 2 years old and 18 years old). However, the nasal sprayalso contains porcine content (gelatine) which may not be suitable for everyone. If parents or carers would prefer their child not to receive the nasal spray vaccine due to this porcine content, another form of immunisation can be offered. The second way is by injection, which does not contain any porcine content.
We have both options in practice.
Adult flu
The flu vaccine for adults will be commenced in October keeping to the national gudelines.
We are planning drop in sessions and nurse booked appointments. Please support the NHS by having your vaccine in the practice.
- Individuals aged 65 years or over (including those turning 65 years by the 31st March 2025)
- Individuals aged from 18 years to less than 65 years of age in a clinical risk group.
